Armoede is onzichtbaar, ook op school
Wie denkt dat armoede niet (meer) bestaat in onze maatschappij heeft het grondig mis, hoe jammer en frustrerend ook. Armoede kan veel verschillende gedaanten aannemen. Financiële moeilijkheden, of armoede op vlak van huisvestiging en voeding. Deze wereldproblematiek is soms dichterbij dan je zelf denkt, want heel wat leerlingen en studenten groeien op in armoede of met heel weinig middelen om zich te ontplooien in de samenleving.
Wereldag van verzet tegen armoede
Onder andere Klasse heeft een heel dossier over kansarmoede op school. Zo krijg je hulp om kansarme leerlingen te ontdekken én erkennen op school. Allerlei andere initiatieven brengen dit moeilijke, maar belangrijke thema naar de voorgrond. Zo is er bijvoorbeeld de Werelddag van verzet tegen armoede (op 17 oktober). Op deze dag sta je stil bij de vele mensen die dag in dag uit strijden tegen armoede. Het lesmateriaal hieronder is dan weer het beste bewijs dat veel leraren er alles aan doen om armoede niet te negeren.
