First Aid Instruction: Book

Every educational professional involved in instruction in the basic skills of reading, spelling and mathematics will always have to be able to answer three questions:

  • What knowledge is involved in this learning content, task or problem?
  • What is the quality of the available prior knowledge or desired new knowledge?
  • How can the optimal quality of that knowledge be achieved through instruction?

EHBI 2.0 offers a conceptual framework to answer the three central questions. It is suitable for looking at didactic actions, at the teaching methods used, but also at striking learning achievements.

In addition to the book, twelve QR codes contain more than seventy pages of explanations, questionnaires, definitions and references.

Prof. Dr. Wied Ruijssenaars has published numerous books and articles about learning, learning problems, diagnostics and treatment. Drs. Cécile Ruijssenaars-Elshoff is co-author of the books Calculated! and Arranged! , as well as various publications in professional journals.

In EHBI 2.0 they base themselves on their own experience, research and current literature. In discussions with groups of representatives from educational practice, they tested the conceptual framework for clarity and applicability. In addition, EHBI 2.0 offers tools to reach consensus in teams about the vision on basic skills education.
