Waste, stop the invasion?: Mobile Exhibition

If the current trend of waste generation continues into the future, it would lead to a major disaster. Waste production is predicted to increase by as much as 70%, from two billion tons today to 3.4 billion tons in 2050.

This exhibition examines different dimensions of this crucial issue and demonstrates, by means of concrete examples, how we can prevent the amount of waste worldwide from increasing further in the future.

In the exhibition links are made between different continents and the worldwide transport of waste, in this way young people also gain insight into the impact of their own behavior on the environment and the living conditions of peers elsewhere in the world.

The exhibition is produced by Géopolis is a center for photojournalism and education in the Ateliers des Tanneurs in the heart of the Marolles district in Brussels. Since 2017, we have been organizing temporary exhibitions, events and educational tours with the aim of giving young people the tools to unravel current issues and to look critically at images from current events. Géopolis' didactic exhibitions have been developed with the aim of allowing them to travel around schools and cultural centers in Brussels and Flanders after being shown in the centre.
