Das schweigende Klassenzimmer: Lesson folder for the film

In this lesson folder you will find various ideas to get started in class around the film Das schweigende Klassenzimmer.

Story

1956. During a cinema visit in West Berlin, East German students Theo and Kurt see images of the Hungarian uprising. Deeply shocked, they want to express their condolences for the victims. They convince the entire class to observe a minute's silence at school. This simple gesture sets the political establishment in turmoil. The Minister of Education talks about a 'counter-revolutionary action' and demands that the instigator reveal himself. All classmates remain in solidarity - no clicking chips! - although this has serious consequences for their future lives.
