Noise: Short film about hearing damage

Ruis tells the true story of a young man with severe hearing damage.

The film is inspired by the story of Dietrich Hectors, who took his own life in 2009 after struggling with tinnitus and hyperacusis. Dietrich posted his suicide note on his Facebook profile to draw attention to the problems of sound and hearing damage.

With this film, the Flemish government wants to make hearing damage a topic for discussion among young people between the ages of 12 and 18 and, above all, to raise awareness that you can prevent hearing damage by, for example, wearing earplugs in a noisy environment.

You can use this document to discuss the film in class.
