What (t) a stopping power: Design a trolley that can stop on time
During this lesson the students make a cart that runs down a slope and can then stop independently by using a magnet. They may give the cart a little push at the start but afterwards they no longer touch the cart.
Before they get started, they first divide the problem into sub-assignments. They make a sketch of the car, the slope and the braking system. They discuss the materials, the possibilities and possible problems. Then they go to work and test their design.
